In May 1955, Alfred Martin opened Martin Farm & Ranch Supply, Inc. in a (then) small south Texas town, Edinburg. He began selling TEXO feeds at his first location on East Harriman Dr. (now East University Dr.). A few years later, Al Martin purchased an old lumbar yard and moved to his dream location at 614 East Harriman, where his business remained until 1977.

In 1961, Martin Farm & Ranch became a Purina Dealer, and, eventually, relocated to its present-day location at 215 East Monte Cristo Rd. After Al's death in 2007, his son Doug expanded on his father's dream and remodeled the business, creating a larger retail and warehouse space.
